LSS CORE

Once the Module Receptacle and Rail system has been set up, the actual habitat modules can be laid down and assembled.

The Lunar Surface Station (LSS) Core consists of ten modules:
  • (2) with Double Horizontal Docking Ports
  • (5) with Single Horizontal Docking Ports
  • (2) with No Docking Ports
  • (1) with Double Vertical Docking Ports
Each module has a mass of 10,500 kg, so 10 modules sum to 105,000 kg. The modules will be assembled in a cross pattern (Image 1). This section will be the hub of the station.

Each module will sit atop a receptacle and slide into place (not shown in image above).

The module with the two docking ports in the ceiling will be used to dock the Crew Module so the crew can easily access the interior of the growing station. It can be docked to virtually any module in the Core.
